Choosing a second opinion

What the service is, who reviews the case, and when another review may be useful.

What is WHITEGLOVEMD?

WHITEGLOVEMD is an independent cardiac second-opinion service. A cardiac surgeon and cardiologist review the same complete record independently, confer, and co-sign the written report you receive.

Is WHITEGLOVEMD a replacement for my surgeon or cardiologist?

No. WHITEGLOVEMD is an educational second-opinion service designed to help you understand the decision in front of you and prepare for a more useful conversation with your treating team. It does not replace emergency care, diagnosis, or ongoing medical treatment.

Who reviews my case?

Every review includes two independent physician perspectives: a cardiac surgeon and a cardiologist. They evaluate the same record through different clinical lenses and then confer before the report is finalized.

When is a second opinion most useful?

Another review can be especially useful when surgery has been proposed, the timing or approach is unclear, more than one treatment path may be reasonable, the risk feels uncertain, or you want to confirm that the workup is complete before deciding.

What if I have urgent symptoms right now?

Do not wait for an online second opinion. Call 911 or seek emergency care immediately for chest pain, severe shortness of breath, fainting, stroke symptoms, or any symptom that feels life-threatening.

02

Records and timing

What is needed, how records are collected, and when the review clock begins.

When does the 24-hour turnaround begin?

The 24-hour turnaround begins after the complete records needed for review have been received and confirmed. If something important is missing, the records team will tell you what is still needed before the clinical review begins.

What medical records are usually needed?

The exact list depends on your question. Common records include cardiology and surgical notes, catheterization reports, echocardiograms, CT or MRI reports and images, laboratory results, medication lists, and the plan already proposed by your treating team.

Do I have to collect every record myself?

No. You may upload what you already have, and you can authorize the records team to help request reports and imaging from your physicians and hospitals. The goal is to make record collection clear and low-stress.

Do I need a referral or need to travel?

No referral is required, and the review is completed remotely. Live consultations are held by secure video. Travel would only become relevant if you later choose to pursue care at another center.

Your written review

What the co-signed WHITEGLOVE Insights™ report is designed to add to the decision.

What is included in the WHITEGLOVE Insights™ report?

The report organizes your current clinical picture, the Heart Team perspective, guideline context, individualized surgical-risk models when applicable, relevant anatomy, reasonable alternatives, workup gaps, surgeon and center considerations, your questions, and practical next steps.

How is surgical risk evaluated?

When the case and available data support them, the review considers validated models such as STS PROM, EuroSCORE II, and the AATS risk calculator. Model inputs, limitations, and missing variables are made visible rather than presented as false precision.

Will the report compare alternatives to open heart surgery?

When relevant to your case, the report can organize surgical, minimally invasive, catheter-based, medical, and monitoring options, including practical benefits, burdens, and tradeoffs. Not every option is appropriate for every person.

Can I share the report with my current doctors?

Yes. The report is designed to support a more specific conversation with the cardiologist and surgeon who know you and remain responsible for your care.

Pricing and consultations

Start with the written review, then add physician time only if you want it.

How much does a cardiac surgery second opinion cost?

WHITEGLOVE Insights™ is $495, WHITEGLOVE Consult is $995, WHITEGLOVE Heart Team is $1,495, and WHITEGLOVE Concierge is $2,495. Every tier includes independent review by a cardiac surgeon and cardiologist plus a co-signed written report.

Can I purchase only the written report?

Yes. WHITEGLOVE Insights™ is the report-only option. It includes the same independent surgeon and cardiologist review and the same co-signed written report without a live physician consultation.

What happens during a live consultation?

The consultation focuses on the findings that matter to your decision, what remains uncertain, reasonable options, and the questions you want answered. Depending on the tier, either one reviewing physician or both reviewing physicians join the call.

Can a family member join the consultation?

Yes. You may invite a family member or trusted support person. They can listen, ask questions, and help you remember the discussion.

Payment, privacy, and access

Direct-pay billing, secure record handling, and what happens after the review.

Does WHITEGLOVEMD accept insurance?

WHITEGLOVEMD is currently a direct-pay service and does not bill insurance. HSA or FSA eligibility depends on your plan; check with your plan administrator. An itemized receipt can be provided.

How are my medical records protected?

Records are handled through secure systems with access limited to the people involved in intake, coordination, and clinical review. Privacy and authorization forms are completed before records are requested or reviewed.

Can WHITEGLOVEMD help me reach another surgeon or hospital?

Yes. If the review identifies a reason to seek another center or specialist, the team can help make the introduction and transfer the relevant records. The choice of where to receive care remains yours.

What if the second opinion differs from my current plan?

The report explains where the views differ, the evidence and clinical details behind that difference, and the next questions to take back to your treating team. The purpose is a better-informed decision, not pressure toward a particular treatment.

Can I request access to or deletion of my data?

You may contact privacy@whiteglovemd.com with a privacy request. Some information may need to be retained when required by law or applicable record-retention obligations.

Your question can be specific

Still unsure whether another review fits your situation?
